Better Normal Mapping? (Bad Render Errors)

Hi all,

I’m having a bit of a normal map problem with my textures. I’ve been trying to find ways of quickly setting up bump (normal) maps using texture in my texture library. Hitting the “Normal Map” button in the texture selection window seems to work, along with setting up the mapping an mapping it to “Nor” in the “Map To” window.

Unfortunately, I keep getting weird render “errors” that show up as black shadowed errors. I’m wondering if Blender is trying to mimic shadows. I’m not sure. But I am wondering if there is any way to fix it.

Here’s a small anim. of the problem:

It sort of looks like you have overlapping faces. Select all (A), W>Remove Doubles. It might also be a normal problem so you might as well select all (A) Control N>Recalculate Normals. Otherwise, it is probably a problem with your texture and its settings.
