Bevel Modifier in Blender

Hi.

I just got hooked into Blender and have this issue.

I’m trying to use the Bevel modifier on a rectangle. But then the bevel amount at the longer sides is more than the bevel amount at the shorter side. How do I make all the bevel amounts the same?

Most of the tutorials I went through used cubes to illustrate the effect but cubes are uniform in shape and thus this issue does not arise. Here is a pic showing the issue.

You’ve scaled your object in Object mode instead of Edit mode. The Bevel modifier operates in Object space rather than Global space, so it’s effects are being calculated on the mesh as it was before you scaled it. You need to apply your scaling by pressing CTRL-A (then select Scale).
