i am making a model and i want the bevel modifier to work on just a single edge.Is this possible for i dont want the whole mesh to get affected.
In the bevel modifier select by Weight. You then need to apply a bevel weight to selected edges. In blender 2.57 this is currently not possible. The way you can do it is to add a 100% weight to edges. See this tutorial. Instead of tagging edges as Seams, select Bevel from the tag dropdown list. You then tag edges as bevels by selecting them holding down the Ctrl key.
