Beziers and connecting them also making it a solid

HI All,
I am trying to model a bean. I used Bezier curves to do so. I want this bean to be 3D and I am not sure I am going about it the right way.
I have TWO challenges here:

  1. The Ends
  2. Being a solid 3d

I tried to follow this wiki page (*note how the face is solid, mine is not only my edge is extruding.
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Intro_to_Bezier_Curves

Then Notice the ends where I started my Bezier curve>Added> Added> then tried to Close the ends via eye balling it.
Which really shows as a bad joint due to not being “really” joined together making a completed closed curve. (make sense?)

Is there a better way to achieve this? Or maybe some help on this current model if I am indeed approaching the model correctly?

A pic is worth a 1000:

To create a closed curve, check “Cyclic” in the Curve > Active Spline tab:

You would need to change the curve from 3D to 2D or convert the curve to a mesh (Alt+C), then fill in the face

Thank you Gentlemen. Appreciate the pics and help.
