Here we have two heavy lifting rotor wing carrying a reusable rocket to its final launch, whilst being accompanied by two fighter jets. if all goes to plan i hope to animate it but i think sticking to that one minute limit will be quite hard. i may have been a bit over ambitious with the project
it’s great! but i the earth background is missing something, the lighting of the earth ain’t matching the lighting on the models(or is it that way:confused:?) but the picture and it’s story is great!
how about the missile having the symbol of some country’s army force? that could be applied too.
Thanks i’m still tweaking it in the compositor trying to get the atmospheric occlusion right. yeah i’ve started on the decals the two rotor wings(need to find a name for them) have R.A.F. markings.
thanks, the rocket is actually based on a sidewinder i still have to add some details to it plus i’m not really feeling the fins but i don’t really want the typical saturn 5 design

Why the vignette? Is there any sky color reflected on the not sun side? Objects moving mostly towards you don’t have as much blur as ones moving across your field of view. That jet looks to fast to my eye. Also there is no spec/reflect on the windows.
now it looks not as good, earlier one was better,
now that awesome futuristic design of the planes and jets couldn’t be seen.
and that part of cloud is … flat?

yeah i agree it has lost something. i think the vingette was me just running out of ideas to try and save the render. the clouds are a textured plane, good looking clouds will be hard without volumetrics. the jets are travelling at super sonic speeds, in the shot they were gonna fly past the convoy and loop back. i’m was going to parent a camera to them and use it as an establishing shot.
i’ve decided to go back to drawing board and have tweaked some things.
-Changed the rocket design now its based more on the new horizons rocket
-Finished the rocket colour map started on the normal map
-Decided against using the earth texture because i could get the atmospheric affects looking like i wanted. i may use it for another part of the project
-turned down the DOF and motion blur
i sat down a week ago and looked at everything i still had to do for this competition and i realised that i would not be able to finish the project and tell the story the properly, so I’ve decided to put this on hold for now and hopefully come back to it at some point.
Here is my new entry for the comp :). It is still based around the same story but I’ve skipped ahead a couple decades
The scene takes place after an alien invasion and humans are being hunted and wiped of the face of the earth. Here we see a member of the resistance driving through what was L.A. trying to escape whilst being chased by two of the alien interceptors (Talons). he is driving a heavily modified ford mustang with an engine based of the aliens own technology, this is the only way he can compete with their speed and agility.
I’m putting the final touches on the composition and getting ready to render the final image which should take about 20hrs to finish :no: . Any comments or critiques welcome
