BGE Posing problem - clothed character

Ok guys - I am fairly new to rigging, but not a TOTAL newb. I am fine to use automatic weights, as it achieves what I want to achieve quickly.

I have modelled (Rather, got from UniHuman), a human, and using following imports from that file, I made a shirt and a pair of trousers.

I had to import the .obj 3 times, once for the character, once for the shirt, and once for the trousers. This is because if I only imported the on file and (shift-D)ed it, the texture would show up on all three.

I joined the 3 meshes altogether, but when I apply the automatic weights parent, I get all sorts of problems, stupid deformations, and its altogether messed up.

Hope you can help

First, you’re importing a mesh, so the question is, did you:

  • edit the mesh and remove doubled verts?
  • make sure the mesh normals are pointing the right way?

OBJ imports are not “just use them” items. You most likely will have to clean them up and make them usable though not the above mentioned quick fixes, but also may need things such as retopology (rebulding) and simplification.

Also, your request for information did not give a lot of information. “all sorts of problems, stupid deformations, and its altogether messed up” lacks the kind of detail that allows help. You need to post blend files, or at least screen shots, before we can really understand the issues.

Hope that helps some, and merry X-Mass!
