Hey guys! I’m coming at you with a test of water & a waterfall. as you can see the water is transparent and has a few reflection maps on it. the water alone consists of nine textures which involve water flow, water normals, reflections, and colors. the water flows and the waterfall actually falls. The way I got this to work is, I used a UV Scroll script which you can find here, http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=146155http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=146155 and I will have this up for download as soon as I can figure out how to make a security token =/ so if anybody can help me on that, it would be great.
As a first test I think you did it quite well, let me give you some recomendations:
-try adding some particles where the water “falls and crash” over the other water surface, to simulate turbulence and jumping water drops.
-add some moss/green, it looks more like a pool than a natural environment, on that note you could also make the background color to simulate the sky, and the water could ahave a dark green reflection maybe check these fotos out:
well this is in the game engine i dont think you can use particles in game engine. at least not in 2.49 i think you can in 2.5 but i cant figure out 2.5 layout. =/ but anyway i had considered making particles in 3d and made it into an animated png image. but thanks for the advice!
As a feature BGE doesn’t have particles, but using an “add object” actuator (that has always been there) you can do particles, those “particles” are kind of fake particles, but do the job :P.

That trick’s been around for years… I wonder when particles will find their way into the BGE. Waterfalls are something that I’ve noticed alot of games struggle with, especially at the bottom but it looks like you’re on the way to getting a really nice effect going there. Maybe even try and give a bit more dimension to the waterfall by making it separate more forwards and backwards instead of just being a flat plane.
Nice to see that other people are using the script for waterfalls. I’d like a video of that.
Talking about particles for splashes, I never found out how to make the planes that I add as splashes via particles rotate. Fading out would also be nice. I tried an actuator that adds rotation but it wouldn’t work.
yeah u will and i hope to get the file up soon (even if it isnt finished yet i’ll give you guys the tests) I tried uploading a different file but it said a security token is missing. how can i fix that?
