@Volume, Nothing happened after I got all the bricks on the first level…
If it’s a bug, you can fix it before the voting if you want.

If it’s a bug, you can fix it before the voting if you want.
Edit: due to the fact that there aren’t many entries does anyone want a little more time? like over the weekend?
Or are we done here?
A little more time would be nice to get that bug sorted out.
OK, how about this Monday? your obviously in a different time zone so when ever you can fix the bug we’ll call this challenge over.
Its been fun Volume, but I wish more people were involved…
@anyone reading this,
Do you have feedback about this Challange?
What would like to see different?
Was it too short?
Too hard?
Too easy?
Waste of time?
Were you too busy?
Some things I learned from this:
but I wish more people were involved…
Yeah, that’s too bad. I was hoping there would be a couple more entries.
Bullet physics are nearly impossible to control and are unpredictable
Exactly my experience. I’ll have to check out this vectors thing you spoke of.
Anyway I figured out my problem had to do with two blocks hit at the same time being counted as one, and the only way I could fix was by writing a script. So here is my final version of breakout.
I was busy so I couldn’t work on an entry, but I will on the next one.
Instead of just cloning a game, maybe we can encourage putting a twist on the game. I dont know what that would be though…
Keep this going!
I’ll have to check out this vectors thing you spoke of.
Here’s the basic setup I was using.
Vector_reflect.blend (149 KB) (149.5 KB)
It reflects a direction vector off a normal and returns the new direction.
Instead of just cloning a game, maybe we can encourage putting a twist on the game. I dont know what that would be though…
Yeah… it’s difficult to come up with ideas, I think I’ll start a thread in the off topic section to get suggestions from the community, and then have a vote. But it depends on how many people are interested.
Maybe future challenges should have simpler themes like:
Originally, these were some ideas I had for future challenges
Galaga
Circus Charlie for NES
Pooyan
Balloon Fight/Balloon Trip
Road fighter
Exactly my thinking. I didn’t have the time to put an entry together unfortunately but what i was working on was a bit of a twist.
It’s past entry time theres no chance of subconscious influencing so I’ll share =D. I was planning on a game called Pizza panic (or something lame along those lines) where the toppings had become stuck on the restaurant ceiling. The paddle was a chef and the ball was the pizza he was throwing up to get the toppings.
Its not much of a twist but I would have liked to have developed a money/power-up system and perhaps use customer satisfaction as score giving your restaurant a rating rather than just putting up highscores. It was too complex for the time I had but I did make a character and Pizza model so when I rig him I’ll throw him up on OpenGameArt and anyone who wants him can play away to their hearts content =D
congrats to those that got their entries done in the time limit. I look forward to playing them when I have access to my main PC.
I also think that we should do something different than cloning a game. The reason I didn’t participate was because of the bouncing angles issue.
Unfortunately not too many people participated in either the contest itself or the voting. I don’t know if this is either due to people just not noticing it or not having time to participate. Maybe the next one should be better “advertised”?
I will definitely try to advertise the next challenge better.
I’m also guessing that many are working on their “big” projects for Erwin’s competition but I hope more can find the time to participate in the future.
I wasn’t aware the voting had already happened. Where was it held?
It was in a separate thread in the “Contests” section.
I apologize for not making an announcement in this thread.
@Volume, I sent you a PM let me know if you don’t have an idea for the next challenge.
The winner picks the next challenge, but if the winner’s not up to it we will have a community vote.
So if everyone could put their ideas in the hat by posting here.

It will help a lot.
Thanks!
Well, I would suggest doing several more contest, and after a while several people will start doing it.
