BGEFS - The Blender Game Engine Flight Simulator

This is the possible culmination of my work with the Blender game engine. Three years ago, I decided to make a flight simulator. I looked around for various ways to do this for free (Java, Alice) before finding Blender. Since then, I have been creating blend after blend in an attempt to understand the BGE at a deep enough level to do this. I am now on the final file, which will become a fully-fledged flight simulator. Currently I have only a basic flight model, having been focusing more on graphics (I may end up using Xjazz’s FDM or something else entirely.) Motion blur, bloom/hdr…more to come!

Enough boilerplate! Here are some screenshots:

I have a time-of-day control, here is the same scene at two different times:

Here the time-of-day setting can be better seen in action (I integrated it with the bloom for more bloom in night scenes):

Please remember this is nowhere near done! I have much left on my “todo” list, such as autopilot, sound, getting the plane to fly realistically, etc.

Hi skykooler!

Very well made. Wisely used a smaller scale.

The models looks good but for my taste the bloom(?) effect is a bit over done.

The flight model needs some tuning but it is pretty neat

Keep this ongoing.

Nice job! Keep it up! I think this is going to be pretty cool!

Quick question: For the night scenes, what exactly did you use to make the blurry shine effect? I keep seeing it, and I want it lol.

I wrote the bloom script myself based on some random Google searches. In the .blend it is called bloom3. Feel free to use it!

Thank you. This will be very useful to me for majority of the games I’m working on.
