BGMC 37

BGMC is a game competition - Blender Game Making Challenge

You have 5 days to create a game and 2 to test and polish it starting at midnight tonight.
(it’s 1pm at the time this topic is created)

The theme - Save the world

start - June 27th - end July 4th
be sure to make a thread in games - work in progress and mark it with #bgmc

submit the game by making a thread in the finished game section

Prizes - (Fun having a competition and hosting rights next BGMC !! )
maybe more TBA.

Sort of. But its has been outdated since 2017.

2018 was the year BGE was removed so no surprise there to be honest.
The BGMC Discord is still relatively active though.

It still has the logo I made for it years ago. :smile:

Also, not sure why I didn’t notice before, but why is Godot under the accepted Blender game-engines? Is this because of Senhor’s adventure?

college got insane for a few weeks, and I didn’t even think about this :frowning:

Nice job putting it all together, pm me if you need anything! (if we do the next one between August and December I can probably actually be involved)

In retrospect, today is the July 4th. :sweat_smile:
Perhaps not the best due date for a dedicated competition. Maybe August would be a better date?

The first time I heard about BGMC 37 being announced was today. I’m really disappointed I missed it because I would’ve have made a game.

Soo…

BGMC 36 was announced 7/22
BGMC 37 was announced 6/27

The chances of me being online the day you randomly announce it is really slim if I’m not on Discord literally every single day. Please make BGMC the same date every year. Also, explicitly tell people it’s the same date every year when you post an announcement to prevent any confusion. Then we can anticipate and look forwards to BGMC, rather than being surprised by it. I’m always at least a couple days late.

I’d recommend redoing this one due to the lack of entries. Give people 1 month notice by saying, “BGMC will be held on the same day every year now, August 1st - 6th. Games must be submitted by midnight PST on August 6th.”

And if you must change the date year to year, please give us at least 3 months notice to maximize the number of people aware of the date of the competition.

We have had several BGMC in a single year before,

I did a date selection thread, a submit idea thread, a poll thread, and finally a announcement thread.

There were many submissions / votes but no one apparently was ready to participate.

Maybe next time I should take a participant poll.
