Big bunney causes Blender to crash when rendering

Well I’m working on my first animation. I’m trying to the use the characters from bbb. The problem is that the big bunney won’t render and causes blender to crash. I’ve made sure to disable the the fur. But alas it still won’t render. I was able to render the squirrel no problem. I’m running with 3GB Ram and a q6600. Blender says its using around 321mb so I don’t think that is the problem. I’ll try posting the file in the morning.

Thanks,
EW

I couldn’t get many of the scenes from the Big Buck Bunny DVD to render without Blender crashing. In frustration, did some research and found out that the Blender team rendered their movie with 64Bit Linux OS stations with 8GB of RAM. I set up a dual boot install of WinXPPro32, with UbuntuStudio64, which allowed me to run Blender64. Scenes then rendered without a problem. My WinXPPro station can only access 3GB of the 8GB installed, but the upgrade has been wonderful, looking forward to animation possibilities with grass, leaves, fur, etc.
