Biomechanical Equestrian analysis (07.07.2018) :
In consideration of viewer’s requests and dissatisfactions so far, Varipon Institute conducted detailed analysis. As a result, a wonderful discovery was made. That is, the centroids and the body’s pitching movements became to be able to separated thanks to the new mechanism which presents impulsive force. It is the most important invention of for this time. Now we can grasp the point while seeing the graph charts.
(1) Walking
The walking mechanism of horses turned out to be realized by ticking four beat with two independent pitching motion in the upper body and lower body. This mechanism is amazing.

While comparing to the two basic gaits described above, Balance & Rhythm are lost, but propulsive and impulsive force compensates for it. Thanks to the new mechanism, there is a slight delay occurred in the pitching motion of the body, and the centroids is stabilized.

After conducting these biomechanical analysis, ultimely movement modeling data (including horse asset and python program) will be shared as .blend file. You can freely downloaded and used it. There is also a theory already established, which can be applied to all quadruped walking animals and every other creature’s voluntary movements. By using mathematical theorem based on this theory, we can easily animate animals.

Atm, there is something weird on the timings, when hoofs attach to the ground, or when hoofs leafe the ground. They slide over the ground. Giving the look that the horse does not have any mass.

Yes. As you pointed out, in the stepping pace movement, there is a weird phase gap in the movements of hoofs of frontlegs and rearlegs. However, that timing of the four legs is constant. It’s a mystery.
I will leave it as it is. (But I will try to improve the front legs…)

In our world, we are constrained by gravity, so are our movements.
Computer animation can ‘simulate physics’. But, mostly, we have to deal with lack of gravity in virtual 3D world. Unless we use physical simulation, lack of gravity is one main problem we have to deal with.
The voluntary movement is an agent contrary to gravity and independent from it. It’s like the cosmological constant Λ which appears in the Einstein gravitational field equations.
An immaterial agent called “movement” becoming an impulsive force of a horse, manipulating the giant bodies, kicking the ground and pushing up it in the air, can be thought that it is a repulsive force trying to expand the universe contrary to gravity.
The animal bodies takes dark energy from the outside that like rotate the planet, then generates the instantaneous repulsion force from its energy accumulated infinitely in the body, maintains stability and trying to move forwards against the attraction force by the gravity. This is a non-equilibrium open system.
So, in order to study the mechanism of movement, rather we need to remove the influence of gravity. instead it is necessary to consider continuous mechanics and fluid mechanics.
In this case, what I got very helpful is Wing Chun Kung Fu’s mindset. Its concept concentrates mainly angle, and there is no mention of gravity.
When there is a stationary object in a uniform flow, vortex appears alternating left and right downstream. That’s called Karman vortex street. Theodor von Karman clarified this physical phenomena theoretically in 1911. In addition, the voluntary movements of animals generate Reverse Karman vortex street to adapt to it.
Chinese Martial Arts especially Wing Chun Kung fu are focusing to these fluid mechanics as centreline theory and makes strong impulsion for going forward with controlled power.

speaking about movement I rather meant locomotion.
Some thoughts. Many movements could be done in space, without any gravitation constraint.
Walking in space would not work, without gravitation and without friction on the feet. Without something we could interact physically, we would stuck at one place. But once gravitation and friction enables locomotion, we gain freedom to move. I guess ‘constraint’ was not correct if its generalised over all movements. But if we focus on locomotion, Gravitation (together with friction) plays an important role.
At the basic level it enables locomotion. But, as our skills to walk improve, locomotion could get something spiritual, beyond just ‘move’. Like dancing.
Varipon’s post can be a bit hard to understand especially with the bits about the cosmological constant(maybe his posts are coming via Goodle translate) he is using kinematics to simulate the motion of the horse. In kinematics you not corned with mass or forces just the spatial path mechanism take.
Regardless of gravity effect, carp climbs a waterfall and birds fly in the sky.

After the completion of the design of Equestrian movements, I will undertake modeling the movement of the wings of bats and insects.
Ultimately we will be able to experiment with OpenCFD on Blender(perhaps OpenFOAM) using them.
The current analysis will be completed this month as an alpha version.
There is a minor part to be corrected in the mechanism of the upper body of the horse. It will settle quickly.
Varipon Institute first shares the modeling data of the horses movements as a Python program.
The final release of all assets of the horse will be shared according to the release of Blender 2.8. In doing so, use EEVEE, a new realtime shader engine, to create movies.
