BIONICLE - NUHVOC and blend file now available :)

After time off from 3D i sat down yesterday and made a little Bionicle robot. It was fun and it brought back a lot of memories

ps: July 12/03
If anyone wants to play with the blend file, you can download it from http://www3.telus.net/ero/
The file is 555kb and ready to load

Have fun!

looking very good. could even go further with this one: create an oponent, rig them up, and let them participate in the “fight of the night”

in short: good stuuf for making a nice animation.

happy blending

Wyvern

Nice job. Great attention to details.

Only crit is that the glass/clear plastic needs an env-map to make it look more like clear glass/plastic. Just looks too flat right now.

Excellent  . Lego is coming with a Bionicle movie this fall! Ahaha… Don’t compete with them, they may sue you for infringement
I’m afraid I’ll be dragged to see it (and I can’t stand the CD they sell with the preview, currently).

:o That is awesome! How long did it take? Such a detailed and complex model (to me anyway). Amazing. I’m not sure if I feel inspired or ready to quit. :expressionless:

hah! don’t worry bro, ye’ll get there… heh

annnnnnnyway

nice model, indeed would be nice for a few anims. Are u planning on making more of these?

wyvern, what a great idea! I love the title: “fight of the night”. …happy blending to you to!

BgDm: thank’s for your comments. plastic is not easy to do in blender and I must admit that I didn’t spend much time with the textures at all. I did use a reflection map, but the settings should/need be tweaked still.

arnaud0, thanks  I’m a music teacher and one of my little trumet students showed me his Bionicle collection about a month ago. As I looked trough the booklets, I got inspired to try and model one. I think that Bionicle models are a good candidate for blender, because they have no hair or cloth parts. Have fun with the movie!

three-dee, thanks for leaving a comment  I worked on the bot itself about four hours. I spent about the same time making a building to complete the scene but I decided not to post that and just do the bot for now.

metalmesoly, I have thought of modifying the bot and add new colors. I don’t know about an animation for it is a lot of work and I have only one computer now. And a slow one 1Ghz, by today’s standard.

Thanks everyone for being kind. I was hoping you would like it. It was fun to see it take shape and do different poses.

When I have more, I’ll post an update. Thanks to all the blender devellopers!!! I’m still thinking of writing a blender book. If I could only see what direction blender is taking, it would be worth it.

I like the shading as it is. It’s original.

i have a friend that’s a bionicle freak… tell him there’s a new set out and he’s out looking for it…

anywho, i hafta say that the hands are a little small, and overall it’s too tall, i’ll hafta check with my friend, but i think i know what i’m talking about…

Jeeves (cute nick, reminds me on Mr Jeeves) … you’re right. You see, I was just eye-ballin’ the whole thing. I looked on the net, but didn’t find any reference images that I could have used for modeling.
The other thing is, I was just basing it on the Bionicle theme without meaning to be accurate. It was just a fun afternoon project so to speak.
“Maybe” I’ll do another one and pay more attention to detail sometime this weekend.

Thanks,
seanix
