Here is another entry I’ve worked on for Nodevember: white.
Birches have always been, for me, the most mysterious of trees, and certainly my favorite. An unexplicable aura of secrecy haunts their surroundings.
To create the texture, I’ve used Substance Designer. I have then setup a realistic scene with Blender 3.0 and rendered it using Cycles. I was undecided between Cycles and Eevee for this showcase, as I thought that perhaps I could have benefit from Eevee’s awesome bloom and light volumetrics, but in the end I went for Cycles, as I wanted to focus on the realism of the surface, without too many distractions. It is one of the powers of Blender that I always have a choice between the two engines.
