Birthday Cake Frosting texture? How?

I’m trying to model a birthday cake. Since my texturing experience is rudementary at best, I have no idea how to make it look like it’s got frosting on it. (Chocolate, of course.) Not sure if this would be a modeling or a texturing solution, but either way I’m at a loss.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You will probably want to use normals mapping. In the materials buttons there are some buttons on the right that deal with the currently selected texture, and, by default, they are simply set to ‘col’ for color. If you click off ‘col’, and click on ‘nor’, then it will read the active texture channel as what is called a ‘bump map’. So if you make a swirly texture, and use it like this, that should roughly approximate the texture of frosting. also there is a slider next to the button that controls the nor value.

I will give that a shot. Thanks very much.
