I was wondering if anyone had tried using a bitcoin mining mother board with blender. I saw that they can run 20 video cards at once. I would rhink this would Be the way to go. Is this possible?
I don’t think Cycles has even been tested with more than a few GPU’s working at once, so there’s a risk of buying nearly 20,000 dollars worth of GPU’s for a gain far less than anticipated.

The process of mining is completely different than gpu rendering (it’s about computing specific algorithms), and Cycles gpu is known to have a non-linear scaling for up to 4 gpus (I think the sweet spot is 3 gpus, if I remember correctly), so, the best motherboard for our causes is usually a HEDT chipset with 4 equally spaced pcie slots for gpus.
