Bizarre behaviour when sculpting

Just started using Blender but I’m totally stumped.

  1. Created a cube, subdivided to sphere and applied.

  2. Sculpted a bit in Solid viewport shading mode

  3. Switched to Rendered viewport shading mode and it shows the UN-sculpted sphere.

Render the scene in the render window and it shows the sculpted sphere as it should be.

Select the Solid viewport shading mode then the Rendered viewport shading mode and it’s now showing the correct sculpted object.

And it gets worse.

  1. When I now apply a JPG material to the object it only maps to the part that is unsculpted.

Can anybody explained this madness? (images attached)
Thanks

I had done images but it won’t let me upload them.

Found the issue myself. Using Dyntopo destroys the material mapping so you need to remove the material before you use it, then re-apply after. Or not use Dyntopo at all. As to why the render view doesn’t render the sculpted object I don’t know but I’m not too fussed.

EDIT: Actually removing it and re-applying doesn’t work. That’s bizarre but there you go.
