blah blah ranty rant rant

So, um, first of all, I could have sworn I already posted my 700th post, to lock a thread. Did somebody delete it? Anyway, this post is much more deserving of a round number, so okay.

I’ve been slowly drifting away from this community somehow, and I don’t want to be. First I stopped talking in #BlenderChat except occasionally if I really needed help with Blender. Lately I’ve only been briefly checking the forum once every few days, and my last post, unless you count the one that’s mysteriously disappeared (if it ever really existed in the first place), was over a month ago. I’m not sure why. It’s not because I’m busy (I am, but that hasn’t interfered with my checking other forums every few minutes whenever I’m on the computer). It’s not because I’m using Blender less (if anything I’m using it more, and I’m way better than I used to be). It’s not because of any problems with my life, I don’t have any big ones and I’m very happy. It’s not because of any dislike of the community (or vice versa as far as I know), this is a great bunch of people. I dunno, it’s weird. I’ve just lost the urge to participate. What the hell do I do now?

enjoy.

I thought this thread was gonna be about how you got annoyed with how much we bitch here that you were going to stop posting. I was half-right.

life

Midlife crises perhaps? Maybe your simply looking for new things considering you have been here for so long it might be seemingly old to you? Oh, to other people that posted in this thread: At least try to make sense, that is all I am asking.

aye’ i wouldn’t be surprised if its from all these threads complaining about other peoples works from the same couple of people, or complaining every chance they get + pointless threads and polls.

Just hang about till blender artists is fully up and operational /new forum? hopfully people will be put in thier place then and everything will be nice a smooth. blender artist will probabily bring a bit more excitiment into the elysiun’s life eitherway.

Someone’s going through puberty. Horizons are widening, opinions are forming, new interests being found… %|

My opinions and interests are the same as they ever were. I’m definitely not bored with Blender, and I don’t think it’s a big deal that some people complain too much. That happens everywhere else too anyway. I really do like this community. I just stopped being part of it for some reason.

I had noticed that you haven’t been around as much lately, since I use the tutorials on your site pretty often. Life goes in cycles and there are times when most of us wander away for a while. If it’s important enough to you in the long run, you’ll wander back eventually.

I must say, I think I might know what your going through weirdhat. About a year and a half ago I went through a similar thing. I lost my blender mojo. Not that I stopped using blender, I just diddnt feel like telling everyone what I was doing all the time. Then when you do, you get bombarded with 1,000,000 questions and critques. I have come to the conclusion that I dont care what others think so much. My style, is my style. If you dont like it, too bad. I hate when people feel the need to post every piece(some crap) that they produce. Instead of looking at it long and hard and saying, “man this is S#!$, imma delete it”. If I saved every doodle I did with blender, I would run out of hard drive space. So by not caring, I care more…<-hehe

I quit caring what other people thought, and cared about my own self, and developing my style and skill on my own.

I dont know if this is EXACTLY how you feel, but search your feelings luke. Use the force to find your answer. It took me a while to find mine. Now that I have found how to deal with it, elysiun and blender has been that much more fun!

Maybe it’s just that, over time, people who shared the same interests as you (or just old friends) went away or stopped having the same interests, both here and everywhere else.

That happens a lot, which is probably why I don’t hang out as much in #blenderchat and the others as I did back then…“back then” being 2-3 years ago when I just stayed there for hours and hours (“and hours”*10) each and every day.

I post here often, though. Actually, more often than before. Not just because I feel that I fit in better here than everywhere else (although I don’t feel that way as much these days…now I feel that it’s just a really fun[ky?] and interesting place to be at), but because I’m not giving up on this place yet (yeah, like I’m going away after being here all this while :P) , so I’ll just stay here and help whoever I can with anything. If there’s no one here that shares my interests, what can I do? Try to interest myself into what they like, or the other way around? Probably neither, everyone’s different and not prone (not “pr0n”?) to change, and I’m not willing to pretend I like something just to feel like I belong somewhere.

Probably if I leave, no one will notice and shed a tear and miss my bad jokes (after all, there’s Sago and Wu :stuck_out_tongue: ) and say “NOOOooooooooo”, so if I ever decide to stop posting I’d have to start a buh-bye-,-laters-! thread and get a couple of replies.

Anyway, I’m rambling now, and hopefully you skipped over to this last part. You’re wanting to “be a part of it” again, right? Just say what interests you, start a project, show some new work, post more often, help people, let the n00b…er…new people know you and your work (and get to know theirs back). And hope for a response.

Maybe, you need a new peanut?

This happened to me, too, a few weeks ago. I didn’t feel like reading long threads in off topic, even though I was interested in it. I was too lazy to answer questions in the general forum. I wasn’t voting in WC, and I guess I’m still not. %| (I really should exercise my right to vote! salutes)

Then it just… changes and I post in things. And for some reason, even though I check the art forums several times every day, I never post crits. :frowning:

Maybe we are in the same ditch. Hopefully this topic could spring you back into action!

You should learn to spam.

Maybe you should start dating some nice girl :stuck_out_tongue: .
“w00t”.

I usually speak nonsense in blenderchat and help people with blender.

You should learn to spam.

And learn to rant. I mean if you’re going to label your thread ‘ranty rants’ do a half decent job of ranting. People take the time, trouble and effort to click on this thread when they’ve still got dishes to wash and the dog crapped on the carpet because they haven’t had the time to take it for a walk so they can share in your abject misery and all they get is the musings of a lesser spotted toad bitching about not being able to see its spots because the water’s muddy. I mean come on man! Get it right!

I’m the same. Much less involved than previously but still very interested. Elysiun is a daily stop if I like it or not. I think it is because blender and the user community are growing so quickly that i step back and watch it happen. It’s great. Now Fligh% on the other hand really gives a lot and has a lot to give here at Elysiun. I envy his tremendous generosity.

Oxman, you couldn’t have known I posted seconds before you!
