Hi all. I was experiencing consistent crashing - that is every time I perform a particular action - with 2.28a. I updated to 2.28c hoping it would be fixed, but the problem is still there. This may be a known problem, but I couldn’t see a forum search to check first.
Basically, Blender crashes in Win XP every time I click “image” to load a texture image. This happens every time without fail, regardless of what project I have open. The crash is the usual Win XP error message about reporting the problem to Microsoft.
Anyone know a fix or workaround? Do I need to submit a bug report? If so, where?
I had that same exact problem. I discovered that any directory which had DivX compressed AVIs in it when you are loading an image file would make blender crash as you described.
Just don’t look in any directory which has DivX AVIs in it. And make sure there aren’t any in the root directory either.
I get these crashes all the time. Seems random, sometimes I look in one folder and it will crash, but won’t crash immediately after a reboot.
Started using the text only, but when you’re doing UV work you can’t so I fight with it. Most of the time if I save before where I know it’s gonna crash and restart Blender first, then it works.
Found a workaround for the previews. I only get crashes when there’s already a pic in the path. What I do is shift+click in the path and backspace over the pic file, so the path just goes to the folder it’s in. Hit enter, then hit the load button and all the thumbnails show up and I can choose another. Seems to work for me, but my guess is it’ll crash anyways if there’s a Divx something in that folder.
Blender crashes for me only on exit for some reason…if I click close or press QKEY it just crashes if I’ve had it open for any substantial length of time. Quite irritating…and I don’t understand why it happens at all.
