Blender 2.46 problem - objects perpendicular to the view

I feel really stupid asking a simple question like this. (also sorry if this has been the topic of a thread before, I was unable to find it though)
I’m experiencing some weird problems with Blender 2.46. I used to work with 2.45 and never had a problem like that before.
When I add an object (a plane for example) in front view it’s still flat on the ground (pointing upwards). I thought an object is always created perpendicular to the current view.

Is there a way to enable this again?

Hello
In the “User Preferences” window, “Edit methods” tab, enable “Aligned to view”, then Ctrl-U to save “user defaults”.
Bye

Thanks!
That was exactly what I needed.
