Blender 2.5 problem

Hi,

I didn’t know where to post this, so I thought I’d do it here. I downloaded the 2.5 beta from blender.org (just to clarify it isn’t any other build) , installed it, and when I run it, what comes up is :

In a small popup window :

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: (Shows the location)

The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.

When I hit Ok, a generic “blender.exe has encountered a problem…” comes up. So I can’t run it.

Any idea if it’s just my computer or what?

2.5 is alpha. Which version did you download? 32 or 64? What type of system do you run?

Sorry…I did mean alpha, I just got used to calling new software “beta”. I am using the 32 bit version, and I am running XP. Its a bit old system, Pentium 4 and all. Could that be the problem?

Try this solution, it looks like a similar situation -

Also make sure that you have the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library installed in the first place.

Thanks for linking to that thread, I found a kind of solution there. Although I don’t really understand what it does, I quote it here :
