Heavy testing is indeed welcome.

The devs. are getting close to adding 2.79’s local view mode back in.

Just a few todo items left and it might be in 2.8 before the beta hits.

so the limit doubled from 2.7x!! that’s nice

So I fire up the latest build…

…and a feature that I really appreciated has been removed. I can no longer toggle overlays from the shading pie. I cannot express how often I turn the overlays off and on, so having all the major options in one place was a godsend. Devs, please bring this functionality back.

Go to User Prefs->Inputs->Preferences there should be an option for “Extra Shading Pie Menu Items” (it’s part of a new section which now contains the left/right select options and some other items)

Ahhh…thank you. That option was a bit hidden, so it took a moment to find it. Frustratingly, they’ve moved pie menu items around, so I’ll have to retrain my muscle memory.

Excuse my indulgence, but I have another question to ask, and no ‘appropriate’ thread to ask it in. This is a major downside of the mods not allowing a catch all blender 2.8 development thread. Anyway, I’m customising my interface, like a lot of us do, and I cannot find where to change the colours for the following element:

curve

Top: My theme. Bottom: 2.8 default.

In my theme, you cannot see the curve profile like you can in the default theme. Does anyone know where this option is located? I’ve spent quite a lot of time trying to find it.

It’s under Regular?!

Good god, that’s unintuitive. I suppose that’s to be expected though. The ‘regular text’ colour changes the icons in the outliner, which is just as perplexing. Looks like you can only find some of these elements by repeated experimentation.

Thank you very much, by the way.

Local view is back (mailing list). One thing currently missing that’s not on the missing features list is if you add or duplicate objects in local view, they are not visible until you return to global view.

Also (and I think others have said this before), I hope there will be an option for local view not to hijack your viewport camera (zooming in/out, spinning you around).

This has been my main gripe with the current form of local view. The return view matrix has proven to be utterly irrelevant for me, and only adds disorientation.

so i started testing it and i found the first crash, it crashes with the undo system.

Before anyone panics, this commit does not actually remove the 3D cursor from Blender.
https://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-blender-cvs/2018-November/116776.html

The only difference is that the 3D cursor used apparently belongs to the scene it is in, so it’s still there for all of use who appreciate the thing.

I was indeed panicking when I read this a few minutes ago on the history page. ty!

I was about to celebrate

i would put the select tool with the 3D cursor one and make it the first instead of grouping it with the box select making switching between them much faster, i know they are all selection tools but now switching between them will be slow in general.

Curvature overlay from Lukas Stockner

The main use for this comes in sculpt mode (where it will assist in making details more visible).
