I used blender 2.7 because I use the blender render engine to bake light and AO, it’s easy and works well. I don’t want to use cycles, it’s slow, uses a lot of power and is noisy.
I’m using 2.8 now and can’t seem to bake using either EVEE or Workbench, is this feature gone now completely?
The baking using the Blender enigne actually looked really good.
Yes. That is a problem from Blender Internal removal that remains.
Only Cycles is able to bake texture in 2.8/2.9.
And UX to use it for that is deplorable.
Texture Baking is one problem. The other one is that texture types used everywhere in UI (modifiers, brushes, particles, Freestyle) are still Blender Internal ones.
Until now, development focused more on how to render textures with Cycles (UDIM, cache, procedural textures improvements) than on how to produce textures for other purposes inside Blender.
