I’m not getting exited about 2.9 yet.
There was a whole Summer of Code regarding the Outliner, and nothing there yet.
It’s one of the parts in Blender that need some serious love, in addition to Collections workflows, working overrides, rendering etc.
There’s the wish to become noticed in the industry, but there still so many oddities in Blender that conflict with regular workflows :frowning:

I’ve been using 2.9 for quite a while now and it’s a great update. Instead of focusing on what it doesn’t have, I’ve enjoyed what it does have over previous versions. It will only get better.

Sounds like AD telling me I got new features again in Maya 2020, but the particle system still is stuck at 2009

I understand that new stuff will help us, but existing things need to improve in certain areas to make daily workflow better. Especially the Outliner is a big issue for us, as we deal with CAD data on a daily basis, and it’s aggravatingly annoying to work with for now. The SOC work on the Outliner would help already a lot.

It’s true that existing things need imrpovement, but it IMHO this is exactly what happends. The skye texture, the Modifier stack, Multires sculpting, Viewport denoising, the sculpting improvements, better UVs handling, motion blur for objects, … these are all amazing improvements. Also collections in the outliner were improved.

Yes, absolutely, I dont know a software that comes with this amount of improvements in minor versions.

That is not true. A couple of Outliner featrues from SoC came in 2.9 and bunch of other are comming to 2.91.
