Hello people! What works better in practice for 2D animation in Blender: an iPad animation (another soft) with export into Blender, or a graphics tablet connected to a PC?
What do working animators actually use in production workflows?
A Wacom Cintiq connected to ToonBoom, Mojo, or Adobe Animate. PC if you’re a normal studio, Mac if you’re a startup trying to look cool
A graphic tablet is likely to give you more option especially if you want to work with blender.
But it’s more a matter of convinience and software interopterability. Since 2D animation relies mostly on skills you can do amazing work with an ipad or a pc.
There are small nuances though if you decide to do pupet animation ( 2D rig) or traditional animation. Then the software matters more.
In a studio a tablet is prefered for technical reasons. It’s simpler to repurpose the worstation from drawing, to animating or watever artists needs. Studios generally owns pc and a few tablets and they are distributed among artists according to their needs.
Also with a pc you can connect to the studio’s network and use various software for organisation and logistic that each artists has to work with.
Now if you are a individual you don’t have all these constraints so you can decide to work a bit differently. But graphic tablet sounds still the most versatile tool.
