i was wondering if thers a school that will teach blender for professinal uses im looking in to like 3d animation schools i live in west virginia so closer would be better and also if you learn somthing else is it easy to translate that in to blender like u leanr 3d studio max can u easly go from that to blender or vise versa
I don’t know of anyone thats offeing serified training yet but their are gus giving classes all over the world, not sure who would be best to contact but i know some of the guys on the doc board are the right people to talk to. hopefully one of them is reading this. or try join the mailing list
Another user posted and said he got his start in 3D with Blender and then moved on to Lightwave as he began landing more jobs. He said the keyboard shortcuts are remarkably similar. He said he was curently learning Maya and that it’s a whole other ballgame.
interesting thanks :Z
umm, The guy who made that sweet mellinum falcon, is giving a course somewhere, I will ask around and see if I can get the schools name.
Ah, are you looking for some kind of accredited school or just looking for some one to learn from. You may find the later but at least in the US finding schools with acredidations who deal in computer animation or games creation is rather limited. There are only a few in the country and they are all in or near major cities like LA and NY, or they are deploma mills like “Full Sail” out of Florida (it is accredited by ACCSCT but you would have to find out more about that agency to know if that really means something). Not many schools (junior colleges, universities, state coleges, etc.) see a great need to turn out specialist in a field that generates so many more self trained individuals then the demand calls for.
But you can look in the back of some mags. I found Full Sail in the back of Game Developer. If you google Game Developer there is a web site that will give you the magazine for free for about 6 months to a year. There are several other schools in it on a regular basis but I could not find them in the 30 seconds or so I looked through it just now.
Accredidation is importaint if you plan to use any degree you get in order to find employment. Other wise you might just want to spend time building a “portfolio” of work to show to perspective employers. A lot of time they really are more interested in what you can accually do rather then where you learned to do it. On the other hand a degree in art, archetecture, or engineering along with a decent portfolio is going to get more attention then someone who just has the portfolio.
Get a computer science degree. Where I work at UNCW Blender is involved in some class projects and some grant projects. The official 3D is Maya learning 3D translates to Blender and Blender to Maya. Any good Computer Science program would be the way I’d suggest.
No arguments. Comp Sci major is a more math intensive engineering program at least at Cal Poly and other California Universities. I speek of them because they are the programs I understand the best, living most of my life there.
