Blender 4.1 - When Exporting with Eevee, GPU is not being used

Hi All,

I’m pretty new to Blender overall - I’ve done a few of Blender Guru’s tutorials, over the last few years, and then promptly forgot the stuff I learned until I come back months later. I’m working up one of those hologram logo things that they did and I’m noticing my computer’s CPU is screaming trying to render out the animation.

Everyone and Everything has said that Eevee uses the GPU. But is that for Viewport only or is it supposed to be exporting with the GPU as well? If so, I have something wrong somewhere.

I’m rendering at 4k and 30fps, so it’s a high resolution. 64 samples on the Eevee Render. I have an i9-14900K and an RTX4090, with 64GB of RAM. Running Blender 4.1.

Attached below is a screenshot of the CPU usage while trying to Render, as well as a still frame of what I’m trying to render. Total animation length is 301 frames, so 10 seconds.

I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

It is using your GPU- see the spikes on your GPU graph? What the CPU is doing is everything non-rendering; calculating procedural textures, calculating any animations or physics, etc. The GPU is actually pretty “dumb”- it just takes the final data from the CPU and converts it to visible information

Welcome :tada:

for exporting the data i doubt the GPU is used… it’s only reading the data loaded converting to a specific export file format and writing it…

The GPU is mainly only told to “draw this triangle colored by this image in this three dimensional orientation”.
