Blender 4.5.3 crashing after rendering 360/406 frames in EEVEE

I have been trying to render multiple scenes in Blender 4.5.3 and it keeps crashing before it finishes all the frames. This time, it got to 360 before crashing yet again, and I have no clue what to do. Apparently I can’t attach files as a new user so idk how you expect me to be able to produce those for you, but I can copy paste the crash long I suppose. Here’s my specs and for reference: I’ve rendered far more complex & heavy scenes than these few. General crashes just seem so frequent now and I have no idea why.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Driver version: 32.0.15.8157
Driver date: 2025-10-09

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor

Blender 4.5.3 EEVEE crashes after ~360 frames (OpenGL + tbbmalloc.dll)

  • OS: Windows 11 26100.x
  • GPU: NVIDIA (Driver 560.94)
  • Renderer: EEVEE + OpenGL.
  • Crash: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in tbbmalloc.dll after 360+ frames.

If there’s some other place I can upload what you need, just let me know. I need to get this squared away so I can return to work with no fears of these incessant crashes. Thanks.

no idea if its the same issue as me, but on my macos system, 4.5 eevee will also crash rendering animations. in my case, blender 4.5 will continuously eat up ram during animations, then all my swap memory, and then eventually destabilize the entire system. it happens with numerous projects, including as you mentioned ones that aren’t terribly complex.

are you able to check what your ram situation is leading up to your crash? (has it ballooned?)

tbbmalloc is memory related. Could you report a bug If you have a reproducable case you can share?

I see. I have started the render again to watch the ram and it crashed even sooner this time at frame ~28. Thing is, even though the crash pop up shows, blender is still rendering like it’s not there… I can see it in the folder.

As for my vram, it is at a steady 3.2/6.0, and it’s only gone up .2 from 3.0 when I first started it so it’s not that. I also have 32gb or regular ram so it’s more than enough. Where can I submit the bug report?

Edit: Is there a way I can list all the addons I have enabled? I am thinking one of them could be an issue, but as you said, tbbmalloc is a memory issue so I am not so sure.

sounds like we might have different issues. i have the same 32gb of system ram, and it steadily rises as i render even simple scenes. i can watch it blow past 100gb of swap, unfortunately by that point the system will be so locked up i can’t screenshot haha

Aha, sheesh that’s rough. Yeah these seem different. I’ve already tried reinstalling my Nvidia Studio drivers and nothing changed… Hoping someone comes and helps both of us with our errors.

Does the crash happen in 4.4 also?

Ah hello. I don’t believe so. I had a different problem back then where it would render blank until I restarted. But that’s different.

You are rendering as a PNG/image sequence right? If so you can just resume from the frame where the render crashed.

If you are rendering directly as a video format, the entire animation and rendered frames will have to be kept on RAM/VRAM before it be saved. As mentioned, your ram will steadily grow and eventually fill up and crash…then you loose all progress

…I am aware. Point is, this shouldn’t be happening at all. I am looking to eliminate the crash entirely. I have too much to do to worry about some faulty software. Again, if anyone needs files, I can provide. I should still have the crash log.

Sorry I’m still not clear which format you are rendering in. Is it an image sequence or a FFmpeg video?

Image sequence.

Hello there,
If the ram gets full, then your system should continue the the operation to virtual memorypage file on the hard drive. It will be slow but run.
How much ram for…
GPU
System
SSD or HD drive?
Empty space on C: drive?
Have you run a memory Test?
Just trying to figure out whats going on here.
