Hy Guys,
got a question to the new releaes of Blendder 2.5x 64-Bit (currently the stable version is 2.57a). I will buy a pc that has 32 Gb RAM, can Blender handle that much or is there no limitation ? Would be nice to know

I have 24 giga and it’s OK
Either way it’s not going to hurt. I have never heard a question whether or not too much memory is bad. The software, whatever it may be, will address as much memory as it is capable, which is pretty much determined by the operating system, which defines the limit of accessible memory.
Will you ever access 32GB of memory in Blender? I don’t know, but you would have to be working on/rendering a VERY large scene. I doubt that you will ever reach the upper limit on that much memory, but like I said, a VERY large scene with tons of hi-res image textures and you may get close, but that would be one hell of a scene.
Thanks a lot for quick answers!
@ ajm sure probably wouldn’t reach the limit but didn’t want to buy something that can’t be used
ValterVB said 24 Gb works and that is great! I might need much 'cause for example I am working on HDR realistic sky renderings using tons of Volumetrics and Particles.
24 G work and some time I have used all :eyebrowlift:
