Hi I new here and looking for feedback. I’ve created my first blender add-on yesterday using geometry nodes and scripting in blender. I’m pretty happy with it so far, just wanted others to test it to see how I can improve it. It’s a simple medieval building generator with controls for size, rotation, roof extension, jettied floor, and dormers. It’s not meant to be super detailed, it’s more for blocking out village scenes and ideas quickly. I have it listed for free on Gumroad. Hope you like it! (But if you don’t please also let me know)
Hello and welcome to the forum !
Your setup looks cool, didn’t tried it but the screen capture is enough to see what it can do,
This might become handy for someone who want to do a quick concept, and it’s great to share it so others can study it.
What do you mean by :
Is there really a need for a python script, what it’s use ? Or you just meant a ressource/asset, and what we download is just a .blend with the geo-node setup ?
Finally , I’m wondering if the Rotate parameter is that useful, since it’s possible to do that manually …
But in the other hand, a way to setup materials for the roof and the walls can be cool, so it might be possible to setup a little scene while staying non-destructive.
Thank you sozap! The scripting was just for me to create the add-on so that I can add the generator to my “Add Mesh” menu. I figured that if I wanted to do that, others might as well. I also have the standalone blend file available for download in case someone wants to grab just the node group. I think I agree that the rotation user control is not needed. But I may leave it as a node group input so that I can incorporate it into other node groups. Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will move on to materials next.
After a name change and several updates and features added, I’ve got it to a point I’m happy with. Here’s the new link: Fantasy Building Generator Add-on for Blender (gladeforge.com)
