Blender and BGE on Android: who is interested?

It was a GLES wrapper, see here: http://shinkamui.net/blog/?p=127

up!
What’s new in easy making runtime BGE in >> android or IOS?
Thanks
Pat

Making “whole Blender” run on Android could be a huge benefit to the Project if it ran on the upcoming ouya console.
Especially the BGE could become much more popular if it got its foot in the door early e.g. by offering it in the ouya shop.

That’s a very good point. (assuming ouya takes off).

There are certainly people interested in porting the whole of Blender to Android; see for example this post on the committers mailing list.

Back to the original topic: given that the current BGE port is going so well in the GSOC project, I don’t think we need to raise funds to buy a developer a tablet any more.

Why would you ever want to get rid of android? The windows phone os is garbage, and ios isnt much better. Android is the ultimate tablet and phone os, and much more in the spirit of open software development.

On topic, I have seen a few developers using tablet slates (running windows 7) to do photoshop and even zbrush work (linked to blue tooth devices). Also android can run ubuntu from what I have seen, which can open up certain emulation possibilities at least.

Looks like the Android port is making good progress

I would absolutely love an Android port. Just being able to animate whilst bored on the train on the Galaxy Tab would be brilliance!!!
