blender and bigger PCs

Hi

Is there anything to consider, if I buy a new motherboard and processor?
Assume that I still want to use blender…

I installed blender at the videocut-PC at school and at a PC of a friend of mine. Both are above one GHz. And both tend to crash within one minute while blender is running.

thanks in advance.

Most crashes with Blender tend to be caused by video card/driver issues. GeForce cards seem to be the most robust for Blender. As far as the motherboard, stick with known brands and get lots of memory. Processor speed mostly affects render speed but I use Blender on a PIII-800 and it works just fine.

I can use Blender with a 400 mhz amd k-2 with a Nvida TnT II and no problems. It’s really great.

1Ghz, 512MB SDRAM, Geforce2MX
Runs perfect.

AMD XP 2100 1.76Ghz, 512 ram, ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder.
Not a single problem… Though I will be upgrading to a Geforce4 soon.

Pentium II 233Mh :frowning: 90MB :frowning:
Runs just OK, but no crashes
