Blender and Ubuntu 24.xx

Hi, I’ve upgrade Ubuntu to version 24.xx (no problems at upgrading it).

But I’m using linked folders om my machine, and also in Blender projects.
So when I have a project with linked assets in other projects, these where sometimes based of this linked Ubuntu (virtual) folder system.

But with Ubuntu 24, when I open a Blender project, Blender complains (system info), that the linked asset can not be found. I don’t think it’s a Blender problem.
Leaving me a useless Blender project.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I hoped to open the .blend file in a editor (being a zip file or so). But no luck here.

Since it is a filesystem feature any program simply uses the path and will be taken to the correct file… or folder…

Also when it worked before and now you updated the linux system… why to blame blender first ? You are sure you can reach the files via the path ???

( I’m on Debian…)

Any specific reason why using links to folders ? Usually you can even remount specific areas to other locations.

Have you checked that the links are not broken in the file system?

I think the new Ubuntu, has a changed symbolic link format, algorithm.
Because they work still in Ubuntu (now with a nice icon to show them as a symbolic link.

They just work correctly in Ubuntu
But broken in Blender :frowning:

But I solved my problem with a tip from others.
Use FILE > EXERNAL DATA > FIND MISSING FILES.

Just locate/point where the missing files are and you are good to go!
