Blender and zbrush2 any improvement?

Here is my try to get zbrush to work with Blender. I did just what MadMesh said in his post:
convert the texture to 8bit, vertically mirror it, and increase the contrast.
Apply the texture to uv and set the filter to 0.1. Displace to 0.7 or to 1.
Subsurface of the mesh=4.
I had to play a lot with the contrast because with the original image the displacement was ridiculous. I have a question: The displace of Blender have to be applied only to a subsurfaced mesh?

Wow! That may be the best implementation of a zBrush map to work in Blender! Is that the way you drew it in zBrush? Is that how it is supposed to look, or did you have to sacrifice something? It looks awesome either way! What else do you plan for this mesh? Where are you going with it? Okay, I guess that’s enough questions.

Fantastic!

Nicely done. That is a lot of work to get it to work within Blender though. I hope the render recode will allow for 16 Bit textures.

Piro: To answer your question, yes, Blender currentlky needs the higher poly mesh to perform proper displacement. We currently do not have sub-pixel displacement at render time, which would make it possible to utilize a lower poly base mesh with a detailed displacement map. It will come though. Just be patient.

Hunkadoodledo: The displacement map and the base mesh are freely available online. All he did ewas utilize them in Blender for the result, with the required tweaks that he mentioned above.

Yes, I didn’t model the head and I didn’t draw the texture; I just downloaded it and tried.
I think it is not a bad result, but you have to use high poly meshes.
Untill now I think zbrush can be used to paint good bump maps.

Ah!..

I’m sorry, I forgot to remember it. I just wanted to show that the two software can work well together.

No problems. Actually, they work.

I hate when that happens…

you know why that happened? because I posted a reply to the thread of MadMesh in Blender General but I haven’t been able to attach the image (don’t know why). So I copied the text and I report the author name of the original thread (MedMesh) and I posted it in this forum. That’s it. I didn’t want to do anything bad but just to talk about zbrush and Blender.
Sorry I will pay more attention in the future.

I wasn’t accusing you of any wrong doing… just poking fun at the very funny sentence. I’m easily amused when I’m at work.
