Blender Animation/Bones question

Hey guys,

So I’m animating a character in Blender and I added a new bone for the head/mouth. All pretty straight forward I thought.

Now when I go to animate these new bones they pose across the WHOLE of the time line affecting my previous animations. I just want to animate the head on it’s own (so I can split out animations later on for my project). What gives?

Just to be clear…

I’d already animated several actions for this simple box character. Then I wanted a mouth action so added a bone in the head.

It appears that the new (top) bone, when posed, affects all of the timeline - and thus the animations in the earlier frames.

What would the reason for this be…that I added and then parented the bone after already doing animations on the armature?
