I overread on a forum thread somewhere that Blender has movie editor capabilities similar to Microsoft Movie Editor. How do I access this capability (if it exists) in blender?
On the top of the Blender window, there are two drop box windows that has ‘SR:2 Model’ and ‘SCE:Scene’. Click on the arrows of the ‘SR:2 Model’ to open the drop box and click on ‘4-Sequencing’.
There you will see pretty much the basics of video editing. It’s not exactly similar but it’s the basics as far as I have explored.
With blender’s video options with the composite nodes added, it will actually more beneficial to you than Windows Movie Maker.
Old but still very good tutorial should get you to speed in no time: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Tutorials/Sequencer/Learning_the_sequencer_(old)
