Is there any projects where Blender was at the end of the pipeline?
(If you dont know what is a pipeline or workflow, please Google it.)
Blender Institute official projects:
-Elephants Dream (short)
-Yo Frankie (game)
-Big Buck Bunny (short)
-Sintel (short)
-Mango (short)
Examples from my commercial gamedev jobs (in all of these projects Blender was the modeller and level editor, datas were exported to our game engine):
-a Gameboy Advanced game “Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron”
-a car racing game (pc, Steam published)
-3 iOS games (2 are published, 1 coming soon)
Is this going to be another trolling thread or is this serious? Any other poster I might give the benefit of the doubt, but if BlenderArtists has a dedicated troll, it’s endi/abc123.
Not saying it is definitely a trolling thread, Sinan. Simply asking the OP to clarify whether they want a serious answer or not. Endi has admittedly done some good stuff with Blender but, let’s face it, spends more time trolling these forums than the rest of the disgruntled folks around here put together.
He must care a lot to keep making new avatars and making posts…and by posting I am not helping…best thing to do really is to not post at all…
submit();
and the other official Blender Institute projects…
this is ok, but not enough… only the Blender Institute can use Blender as an important part of the pipeline?
To be honest guys, why is their so much scepticism with Endi/Abc? His work in the BGE has been stunning. This question to the Blender Game Engine uses is a serious one. There appear to be many games that start in the engine, but never leave either as one uses another commercial engine or people dissapear.
BF has announced on Blender Conference a plan to create a job site (or something like that) where the professionals only (freelancers, studios) can meet and contact each other. Is there any progress? Reading the discussion above … it will be quite needed.
Right. Also he should already know how to edit posts? The problem in fact is, that the blender foundation / institute has a big setup of nodes for rendering - and this hardware and power costs
Radek, they talked about this since 2011. Nothing big happened. Also they want to charge fees for this.
I am working on a website like this - and it will be soon released. Didnt take so long. Also its completely free and you just need to send an email - no registration or login needed at all …
Why endi is a troll, you have to clarify first what troll really means and why you call this man a troll so often, you have also to answer this simple question: Why the word troll is so often used in this particular forum? You also called me a troll a few times. I can’t understand it. If troll means that someone is realizing that blender is not enough for his job, then you’re wrong. Blender community has to realize that there’re powerful apps around that may not limit your creation. If they cost some money then buy them. Don’t fool yourselves.
This doesn’t mean that you’ll stop loving blender.
Endi is a good artist. Listen to him. Occasionally… please.
Let me put it this way, endi is a good troll. LOL
No abc123 , I don’t know many projects that ended in blender. But I’m working on one that tries this. It will end in finalcut, - my guess- but this is another story LOL
In addition to the BF projects and Tube there are a whole lot of commercial and corporate projects that use Blender at the end of the pipeline (or, in some cases, Blender constitutes the entire pipeline). It’s just that the projects in the last category are of substantially lower profile pieces, so you never hear about them.
I suspect a lot of commercial Blender users spend their time being commercial, not posting actively around here. I mean, if you count modeling, texturing and UV work.
I originally thought you meant BGE as final engine, and comp/VSE used for final output, which would probably be easier to measure.
Having a high online-profile here doesn’t serve the same “industry profile” function as being active at CG society etc. Bragging about being a Blender user may elicit some hoorays from this very lovely community, but it’s not likely to land jobs at the moment. It probably means a schooling period into Maya/Max, from the POV of most hiring studios.
