Blender became SLOW after Yafray render.

I’ve installed Blender just after clean Windows Vista installation (after formatting my hard disk). I ran it once or twice without any problems. I was taking a look at an old model of mine and I rendered it a couple times to get some images and then I installed Yafray and tried ro render it at the highest possible quality just to check the output.

In the first time I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL because I didn’t know it was going to take so long and couldn’t wait. The second time, after restarting the system, I let it go (took little more than 40 minutes or so, maybe more).

Well since then whenever I use Blender, by merely rotating the view around the initial default layout (with that cube) I can notice I’m getting a very low FPS. I also noticed the slowness while playing Windows’ Solitarie. I tried to restart the system, completely turning the power off, waiting a couple seconds and turning it back on again (to be absolutely sure anything stored in the card would be reset), but nothing helped.

Questions: Did the render melt my video card? What’s going on? :frowning:

I’m running under Windows Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo, GeForce 8800 GTS, 2Gb RAM

Found out the reason!

My graphics card automatically reduces performance when heat level raises to prevent it from continuing to rise. So, working at maximum speed (for the YafRay render) for ~45 minutes capped the board’s performance until some time later after it cooled down. It’s all good now. Phew…
