The Blender Cloud Textures Library can now be used from within Blender. That’s pretty amazing!
But is it free?
You need to subscribe to the Blender Cloud which costs $10 or €9.90 per month.
Tried it out and its really cool plus with the latest build the texture painting is alot faster thanks to campbell and sergey.
This addon has alot of potential and if you want to see faster development please subscribe to the cloud so Sybren(the guy who is working on it) can continue his job and that will happen if the cloud reaches 2500 subscribers and now they are a bit over 2000.
more technical info here:
Hi
For me, it’s curious that this addon comes at the same time that poliigon adn cmv library, and this addon have a litlle publicity and notoriety.
I think this addon and antoher like asset manager would be the next big step for blender (something similar to componets library for sketchup, 3dwarehouse) to attract more new users.
I know that is a early version and library, also I would like to see some possible collaboration among the users to complete the own common library of free and organized materials.
I think that a user who JUST wants the library of materials, pay ±10 euros/month (price of blender cloud) for the current library of textures is too expensive, but the concept of the online library connection seems incredible
thanks to the author of the puglin, in short time blender cloud will have antoher user
sorry for my English
Awesome job guys, looks very useful!
It’s great to see that the Blender Cloud addon gets some coverage here as well.
We’re working on the ability of all Blender Cloud subscribers to create their own texture library on the Cloud.
Well, you don’t pay just for that. You also pay to allow me to keep my job at the Blender Institute, and keep on working on new features
That’s great, thanks for your support!
Hey Sybren. I’ve been wanting to join Blender Cloud for a while, but this is convincing me to do it. Great job!
How are new textures going to be added to the public cloud library? Will there be a way for users to share their personal library through Blender Cloud?
Excellent!
The public library is curated by the Blender Institute. We are thinking about opening it up for other people as well, but this is ongoing. For one, the textures would have to be released under a CC-zero license.
We’re working on sharing a personal texture library through the Blender Cloud, as part of the projects infrastructure. This means that the library will be available to members of your project. In the future we might extend this, to make it possible for you to open up your projects (and their assets/textures/etc) to all subscribers.
@sybren, how many subscriptions are still needed?
You are doing some great work and it would be great if you could continue with that.
We’re at 2029 right now, so we need 471 more!
would be nice if it could be configured to blendswap or some other sites, people might perhaps start their own texture web sites.
Well, one of the reasons we developed the addon is to increase the value of Blender Cloud subscriptions; people pay the same amount of money, but get more!
If it gets closer to the target, I am going to pay for another subscription.

Maybe you could already incorporate curated CC-zero textures from various sources.
