blender console not working (I think)

Hello I’m new to python coding in blender.
I have done some tutorials in python blender now…

And one thing that continually stumps me is the console…
It is called “Python Console” in the editor types, right?

Tutorials always tell me that if I get an error it will show up there…
But I have even purposely typed in things I know would give me
a ton of syntax errors and it still does not respond. When I use the
python IDLE I can see the errors, but when in blender I can’t seem
to find where my errors are listed… (It’s a problem because when
my program doesn’t work, I can’t figure out why)

Also I am using a mac.
Let me know if you need any more info to better help me.

SOLVED

  • go to the blender.app file
  • right click and choose Show Package Contents
  • click Contents, click MacOS
  • there should be a file named blender, right click
this file and choose open with terminal…

and thank you

The console is not accessed there
Instead go to “Help-> toggle system console” up the top

ummm that must be an option in windows because I don’t have that option… I think I found an article on how to do it though… thank you, I’ll edit this post if I get it figured out

this is the article

i’m using a mac…

I literally cursed when I read that… I’ve been uninstalling and reinstalling like crazy before giving up and going back to 2.49.

Thanks sdfgeoff lol

Well I just figured out how to do it on a mac.

  • go to the blender.app file
  • right click and choose Show Package Contents
  • click Contents, click MacOS
  • there should be a file named blender, right click
this file and choose open with terminal…
