Blender crashing on startup

Hello, first time posting here. I am experiencing an issue, which I have never had before.
I left blender to sit on my desktop for about a month, and when i felt like running it up again, I downloaded the newest 2.57b, installed etc. But when i tried running it, it popped up the black box as it does usually, only it was left blank, and closed in a few seconds. Then an error message popped up (the usual ‘‘insert program name here’’ has stopped working one). Tried running multiple times, still same results. Tried running my old 2.49b, same thing. Unistalled/deleted everything related to blender except my models. Reinstalled 2.57b… same. So i come to you guys for help. Its either this or a format, which would no doubt work, but I wish to keep that as a last resort, for I am too lazy to reinstall multiple programs/drivers etc. for other programs. So please, if you have any ideas, please feel free to speak.

My specs are as follows:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X3 720 Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Video Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5750, 1gb

and if that doesnt work try using a older version like the previous one you had before …like this

and if those dont work download the latest version of python :slight_smile:

Check on your graphic card vendors website for any updated drivers

Download the zipped version. Unzip it to a folder of your choice, and see if it will run from there. Allthough you say you did a clean install, it would probably help if you tracked down the
“Blender Foundation” folder probably some where in Docs and Settings/User/App Data. Win 7 might be different.
In there delete the startup blend. If you havent allready. It will be rewritten if Blender succsesfully loads.
You will need to reset your prefs after this.
