Blender degrades as the day goes on.... and on.

I have noticed that after using blender for a long session and breaking that when I pickup again the system is barely moving. Like working in molases!

If I close blender and restart, it is still slower than ____ even when just moving the default box around.

If I then restart the computer and run blender, everything is back to normal.

I Hate restarting the whole system to refresh blender, memory or ???

I have noticed this seems to happen after I am away from the computer and the screen saver is active when I come back.
Does anyone know how to clean out whatever gets cleaned when I do restart, without restarting?

never heard of that

my guess is either graphics card, or virus, or maybe you’ve got a P2P file sharing program running that’s based on Java -

Do you have an ATI card?

You definitely have an ATI card… I used to have the same problem. Do a search for ATI fix.

A long shot, but you might try a ram freeing utility like Free Ram XP pro. (It’s free.)

I have never had this happen with any other programs. After blender gets so slow, I can minimize it and run any of my other graphics programs with no problems.

That’s why I think it is blenders code. I was hoping this had happended to someone else.

My card is a nividia 6600 new a couple months ago.

I will download the ram cleaner and try it. Its been so long since I fooled with my system or windows that I had forgotton about the RAM, lol. But that my work.

But, you would think that when I started my other software up it would be slow too… oh well anything to help.

Thanks very much, I really appreciate the advice.

                                          :o

You can check real quick if it’s the graphics card by turning off all acceleration. There are some settings Blender doesn’t like (openGL).

You’ll have to do a search or maybe someone else can tell you what settings I’m on about (I’m ATI so I have to turn the whole thing off).

Thanks, I will turn it off and see if it helps.
