Blender doesn't detect EVGA graphics card

I just got an EVGA GeForce GT 640 graphics card.
I am running Xubuntu 14.04.1 with Blender 2.71

The card works perfectly with games, steam, videos, etc… But Blender does not recognize it.

In User Preferences > System > Compute Device, the only option is CPU.

How do I get this card to work with Blender?

what is your nvidia-smi output from commandline? are you building blender or downloading a binary? what version of nvidia drivers are you using?

I am using a downloaded binary, available in the following PPA:

nvidia-331-updates (I checked this is the “Additional Drivers” menu in the settings editor of Xubuntu)

Choose pack for your OS bit-ness, unpack in some /home folder and run.
Irie Shinsuke PPA is not updated since June - on buildbot you will get latest Blender build.
Not sure - i’ve read you need Blender installed at least one time to later run from pack if on Ubuntu. Was not the case on Mint.
nvidia output is pretty much similar to one here and you have newer card.
