Blender Eevee viewport lagging on MacBook Pro 16 inch

I have the MacBook Pro 16 inch with 2.4 GHx 8-core Intel Core i9, 64 GB DDR4 memory, and AMD Radeon Pro 5500m 8 GB/ Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB graphics cards

For some reason when I try to load a simple scene (the one from CG Boost’s Launch Pad course, chapter 2) in Blender 2.83, the Eevee display is noticeably laggy and I’m wondering why that is. My computer should be able to handle anything that gets thrown at it.

Anyone know what’s going on and how I could speed things up?

Wish I could help. I get the same thing with a much older and less powerful iMac. Seems to start when I add a mix shader. Just about unusable.

Might be this bug: This has just been fixed in the development version, so try if 2.90 alpha fixes it for you.

I just downloaded the 2.9 Alpha and yes that seems to have fixed the problem! It’s so much smoother, at least for this one file. Thank you!!

I’ll have to give that a try. Wouldn’t that fix come to 2.83 LTS as well?
