Blender FBX Export Problems

Hi everyone. New Blender user here.

I have a few basic models that I’m trying to export into another program. The best interchange format I’ve found so far (for this) is FBX. However, now that I’m trying to do normal mapping (bump mapping), I think I’ve discovered that Blender does not export tangents and bitangents with the FBX data.

So, a few questions.

  1. Am I correct in my belief, that tangents and bitangents are not in the FBX exported data?

  2. If I am correct, is there anything I can do to get this data included? (Perhaps there is a setting or something I haven’t seen.)

I have verified that if I export my file from Maya in the FBX format, tangents and bitangents are included. There is something wrong with the way Blender is exporting FBX files (either a bug, by design, or something I’ve done incorrectly).

Anyone?
