Blender for 64 bit windows 7 question

so i wanted to download Blender and learn how to animate and model. I just built my first pc which i installed a 64 bit Windows 7. Now when i go to the download page it list the download depending on what OS you have. Now for 64 bit it says no Installer available but it does have the Zip Archive. so wat does that mean? im looking at the current stable version by the way which is 2.49 i wanted to download the beta 2.54 but im afraid of all the bugs and stuff. lol so i dont want to mess with it till its stable.

If you’re not confident in extracting the files from the zip file and manually moving folders, just download and install the 32bit version. It will still work fine on 64bit windows.

If you’re looking for an installer, you can get a 64bit Windows installer from Jesterking (who is in charge of the Windows installers if I’m not mistaken). You can get his latest installer on graphicall.org here: http://graphicall.org/builds/builds/showbuild.php?action=show&id=1473

But as Richard said, 32bit will work as well.

A quick note if you’re new to Blender. The website graphicall.org has daily builds of Blender, I installed the installer at first to create the file associations. But now I just download the latest builds and overwrite the files in “C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender” with the newest files. My personal opinion, if you’re just starting out, I would start learning with the latest releases. I know there are lots of bugs, but nothing that would be a show stopper for you.
