Join me in this Blender and Quixel Mixer tutorial series as we texture Master Chief’s iconic MK VI GEN3 helmet from the 2018 E3 Halo Infinite reveal. Building on the helmet we modelled in the MK VI GEN3 Blender helmet modelling series, this tutorial series uses no paid software or add-ons, making it free and accessible to everyone.
We’ll start with model optimisations in Blender to prepare for baking. Due to popular demand, I now have screencast keys enabled to make following along easier. After optimising the helmet, we’ll prepare it for UV unwrapping and bake perfect normals, ambient occlusion, and material ID textures. Then, in Quixel Mixer, we’ll create photorealistic PBR textures, add procedural edge wear, and design customisable, colourable texture masks for use in Blender.
