I was wondering if there was a way to have blender not import lightwave models as one solid peice. Or is there an easy way to break a model up into the peices there were originally? Thanks for the help.
The only real separation possible in Lightwave are layers (apart from assigning selection groups, if memory serves me correctly), and the import creates a separate object for each layer from what i can tell. Layers get further separated by materials it seems, probably due to the limitation of materials per object which is much higher in LW.
Note that Lightwave can apply SubD to only parts of an object, something not common among packages that don’t divide scene and object files. I don’t think the importer auto-splits those parts yet…
