Blender in education

I was wondering if anyone here is working on getting Blender into educational programming. I am thinking about the possibility of getting physicists and animators working together to create open source interactive tools for experiments in virtual realities - with controllable settings like gravity, size, speed, friction. It could even delve into microscopic and subatomic levels, and assist with visualization of new particle theories. The same thing could be done with other areas like chemistry, engineering, biology, agriculture or many others.
