I have this great opportunity to promote Blender by teaching a short 3D for beginners class for duration of three days for starters.
If after this 3 days class there is more interested people I might have work for longer time. This would be great for me, because I could do something which I enjoy.
I’ve already written material about 30 pages and writing a lot more, but I am certain that this 3 days are not enough.
that sounds great!
I would love to be able to do something like that
my mother in law teaches in high school and we talked awhile ago about me coming out and showing some stuff, but it hasn’t come up again
well, because the course is named for beginners, the basic of course, so firstly how to use blender and what do the buttons do.
Secondly, how add meshes and surfaces etc. and how to model with extrude, lattices etc.
Thirdly texturing, lights and rendering, the world setup.
Fourthly: IPO animations, armatures.
Time really pushes short , if the people i am teaching do not now ANYTHING about 3D. If they’ve used some other software it is helluva lot easier. I hope.
That’s so cool.
I will start a free Blender course in seven weeks. I got the chance to get a 24-workstations-room for free as long as I don’t charge the students. So I have a great opportunity to train my teaching skills and spread the blender experience. Blender is just the coolest application around.
Did you ever notice that Blenderheads take it personal when someone talks bad about blender? I have never seen that with any other app…
I would mix it up a bit the first day, so the students could actually have the satisfaction of creating something right off the bat, and knowing they can do it, despite the colosal rubiks cube of buttons which can be somewhat intimidating at first glance. Trying to walk them through all the various functions could be a bit overwhelming. Flying saucers are easy to make. Just add a UV sphere, select the middle row of vertices and scale. That would give them a basic modelling skill that they could play with.
mind sharing the material? …a friend of mine and i have a presentation of blender on the biggest slovene info-tech expo. and after that i have (probably alone) also a “class” about blender.
i was gonna do a class on blender here in NZ, becasue currently we have such a large 3d industry, lord of the rings, xena, lion the witch and the waredrobe, king kong, blah blah blah
but kids arn’t getting into it very young
i was wanting to do a course for kids
just a hint…Hippie. make sure that the people you are teaching Blender to, already have basic computer skills. otherwise it can be a nightmare.
3 days is not enough, in my opinion, but maybe enough to grab the attention of a few that would like to continue the course.
Well I could share material, but the problem is that I don’t write it in english, because it’s not my native language. And seeming you probably won’t understand a word of finish it would necessary for me to translate it., and for that I am afraidm I don’ t have enough time at the moment. Sorry.

well, that’s ok, i think i’ll manage somehow …if not else i’ve got a firend who knows finish …the main cause i need the material for is to know what exactly to present …i mean, what and when …it’s my first lecture i’ll do in my life and i’m not really a pro blenderhead yet
